Mac Phails' 100 Km
Story
RUN 4 REFUGEES. THANK YOU for sponsoring TEAM MAC PHAILS' 100 KM & helping the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre support people seeking asylum.
We have successfully completed this year's Run 4 Refugees, doing the Surf Coast Century 100 Km relay, and with your help exceeded our target of $4000 by $500. Our 5 person team, Maureen, Logistics, & runners Sophia, Aleece, Tom and I, on behalf of people seeking asylum, thank you.
We have done this because opressed people, forced to flee for their lives, have made it to Australia in search of sanctuary. ASRC embraces them. We provide food, medical treatment, casework, legal advice, English lessons, TAFE courses, employment pathways, social enterprise, social engagement and more for 3000 people. The overall cost is about $10 million this year. There is no government funding.
Run 4 Refugees last year raised $230,000, about the cost of the emergency housing. The 2016 target is $250,000.

ASRC Footscray (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre)
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is both a place and a movement.
As an independent not for profit organisation, we are owned and run by our community. Our programs empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well-being. As a movement, we mobilise and unite communities to create lasting social and policy change for people seeking asylum in Australia.
We assist over 7,000 people seeking asylum each year from our centres in Footscray and Dandenong, Victoria.
